Sung Mass of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary
in the Extraordinary Form
On Thursday February 2, we invite you to St. John the Evangelist in Encinitas to the Traditional Latin Mass sung in honor of the purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary. According to Mosaic Law, she had to wait 40 days after giving birth before bringing a sacrifice to the temple. She complied in the presence of Simeon the just and the prophetess Anna. On that day, as the Child Jesus is recognized as the Light of the World, candles are blessed and distributed to the faithful.
